Default Gas Guage

I am not sure if my gas guage is working. I put 10 Gal in it when it was at a 1/2 of tank and it never moved. The next day I put in 15 Gal and it moved a little. Does anyone have any troubleshooting tips I can try. I am thinking with 25 Gal in 2 days i should have seen some movement on a 50 Gal Tank. Any help would be much appreciated. If the gas sensor in the tank is bad is that a costly fix if I have to take it somewhere?

Clean the electrical connections on the gauge end and the sender end - that usually resolves the issue. Use dielectric grease when you put them back together to avoid this issue in the future.

Either the manual switch is in the on position or the float is in the up position, or something wrong with the pump.

Only those two things should turn it on.

I'm having the same issue - needle on the gas gauge jumps all over the place, esp. when the trim is adjusted. Where exactly is the "sender" end?
    thx.

Sender unit is attached to the gas tank just in front of the engine. You may need to peel back a bit of carpet to get at it. Its not a difficult job to replace it. BUT....has anyone here looked at Randy Jobe's sticky regarding How to Fix a Jittery Fuel Gauge???
