Hi All,

My first.... post!

Just bought my first ever boat.. A brand new SX18 with the new twin full stripe Hull (Aztec Yellow)

I has the option pack with the Digital depth guage fitted. As I have a Garmin 550s with its own sounder, I am concerned about them clashing. The Mariah transponder is fitted exactly where the Garmin transponder wants to be.

So has anyone ever fitted two transponders sisde by side, if so, do the interfere.
Could you just use the garmin unit and split its signal to both head units?
The Garmin is a 50/200 hz unit, but does anyone know what frequency the Mariah unit is?
Who makes the unit for Mariah?

Garmin say try setting the units at least 50hz apart.... but as I do not know what the Mariah unit is set to, I can't try that.

Any help / thoughts would be appreciated

Welcome to the board Dave, and congrats on your new boat!!

Can you post a pic of your depth gauge? I'm not sure who makes the new gauges, but the old Mariahs used depth gauges from both Lowrance and Faria Instruments. Once we figure out who makes the depth gauge, we can figure out more about the transducer specs.

If you have access behind your dash, try and find your depth gauge. There should be one thick black wire going into it. This is your transducer line, follow it, and there should be a small tag somewhere listing what model transducer it is. My Lowrance 3500 has a Gray connector about the size of my thumb, and a small silver tag on it which says "PD-N Transducer". If you can find the code, this will help locate the specs on it!

We'll try and help you get this all straightened out, just keep us updated with what you can find! There's not a lot of documentation on the new Mariahs, so we'll help you figure it out!

Thanks for your really cordial, swift reply.

As it happens my boat is due to arrive next weekend, so I can't check out the cables just yet.... but when I visited it last week I took plenty of photos.

I have attached one of the guage, it appears not to have any markings... but the general guages are indeed Faria.

Hi again,

As it happens I have managed to solve my own problem.

Whilst I was taking my (80!) photos of the boat before I bought it, I happened to point the camera upside down behind the dash board and took a photo. Amazingly it perfectly took a shot of the back of the depth finder revealing its code of HDR610.

A quick Google reveals its a Humminbird HDR610. From this I could get the owners manual and found out it is a 200khz.

Great first post Bakdraft, tell you what, taking photos of the back of your dashboard is REALLY taking photography of your new boat to the max
I LOOKED behind mine once, hmmmm wont be doing that again in a hurry.

As it happens there is a relationship to the film Backdraft spelt with a 'c' but it is not that I am a fireman.

It so happens, that back in 1991 when the film was released, the internet was pretty much uknown in the UK. I was an early starter and in those days you had to have an 8 letter name - you could not use your own name - and so I thought I would use the film I had seen the night before... but had to drop the 'c' to make it 8 letters.... and it has stuck ever since...... so when you see bakdraft on the Tivo forum or E90 forum or AVSforums forum et al..... you know who it will be... cause its a one off!
