I just purchased a 1996 Z252 Shabah. Did a Lake Powell weekend and found two things to watch on the boat. The kill switch by the driver and your help with a fuel guage will solve the other.Happy as can be with the boat . Has a 454 fuel injected, brovo 3 drive, 348 hours and will run over 50 mph

    Hi Reed

Im pleased you like your Mariah, you have the same motor and out drive as mine, they are pretty quick qnd responsive, my fuel guage on mine is rock steady now, allthogh it wasnt to bad before.
if you follow the directions for your fuel guage posted by Randy Jobe Its an easy fix.

    Good Luck

The fix described here is still working as of 8/3/10. Rock steady fuel gauge, but the depth gauge leaves a lot to be desired. I wonder if it's the gauge or the sender. Sometimes it's accurate, and sometimes it gets stuck on one reading, and won't read accurate until you turn it off and on again.

    Hi Three Jakes

Yup i know what you mean about the depth guage , i thought i was in enough water but guess what i wasnt , i had my wife and daughter on the boat both of them panicking because i grounded out with a sharp stop. they were not impressed with my driving, next day they bought me a new T shirt with CAPTAIN RUNAGROUND on the front and ALIAS SANDY BANKS on the back, i have to wear it if i make a mistake on the boat. so i guess i wear it quite a lot.

    cheers

    Hi Edward
If the picture shown is your boat I think it look just like mine. Mine is the Z252 shabah in green and off white. Off white insides with green accents. I have two binimies that zip together to make a full top over the back seating area, and a camper enclosure to fill in the rest. For a 25 foot boat it handles great. Reed

I have a 96 Shaba that the gas gage quit period. Seems like during winter storage (inside temp controlled). I did search first and printed the stabilizer write for jittery gage but back to basics if I have voltage at the gage and a good ground I have a bad sending unit or gage right? Thanks

Tallram--I have heard that if you put 2 cans of Chevron Techron in your tank and fill it with gas, the Techron will disolve the Sulphur on the rheostat on the gauge sender. I know this has worked on sending units in cars.

    Smile Re: Jittery Fuel Gage

Hey threejakes, thanks for the reply-I will try that soon. I took the boat to Possum Kingdom near Dallas recently and made sure to keep the tank topped off as I travelled at least forty miltes a day on the water (Hells Gate Oh Yeah!!!!). I did see a Z302 that was cream and white very nice. At this point I would trade the Shaba I love and my RV for a Z302 I could sleep in. I would NEVER leave the lake which by the way sucks the most about winter. It is in the eighties here in Lubbock Tx, I was on the water this last Saturday and I will be there this weekend. When the first cold snap hits I put the boat in my shop and stare at it all winter. Thanks

Anybody know a good online store to get these now? I checked that first link from like post 5 or whichever it was, but it goes to the main page for that company, and I know absolutely nothing about these kind of things. I guess what I'm saying is can anybody hold my hand and show me exactly what to get? lol

Thumbs up Re: Jittery Fuel Gage

I noticed my gauge bouncing as well. Then it flatlined. So I probably need to change the sending unit and add the capacitor as well.
    Great post Randy. Thanks.
