Default questions (SEVERAL)

ohhh I have soooo much work to do before summer!

Im looking for a mariah shield decal that is after the Mariah on each side of the boat. Is there anyway I can still find that decal?

Anyone have the part number for the trim sender? Is it a Mercruiser number?

I need to get my depth sounder working. Any ideas? It powers on, but it just blinks like it is not getting a signal, but then somtimes it acts like it IS working.

Where is the speedometer pick-up?

How do you remove the pedistals for the captains chairs? I removed the screws on the passengers side(and broke 4 screws off trying to do so) and the pedistal does not want to lift off the floor. Am I missing somthing?

What is the best way to clean/ soften the fabric on the seats?

THANKS GUYS!

The original Mariah decals are very hard to come by. Sometimes they pop up on ebay, but go for a tidy sum... If you aren't too particular, you can order new shields from Sea-Fox, they are trimmed in silver (as opposed to the original gold) but only an expert would know the difference.

The trim sender on an alpha drive is sold as a package (both trim sender and trim limit sender) The part # is 805320A03. It's a big job to replace them, you must remove the drive and the bell housing...

The sender for the depth sounder can come loose from the hull (will need to be re-epoxied) or sometimes the mineral oil in the sender leaks out, either of which will cause erratic readings. On mine the sender is located in the bilge of the engine compartment on the starboard side.

The speedo pickup is a very small hole on the leading edge of the outdrive. See this thread: Replacement Boat Guages?!. Usually, it gets full of crud and doesn't work. Using a small drill bit in your fingers (don't use a power drill...) just ream the hole and remove the debris.

I'm not sure about the seat pedastals. I know several members have removed them. I do know there is an aluminum backing plate under the foor that the bolts thread into. Maybe another member can help you out here.

I used Mr. Clean magic erasers followed by a very liberal applicaiton of Meguiars Rubber/Vinyl protector on my interior. It was amazing how great it looked afterwards. I'd caution against using the magic erasers regularly, they are abrasive, and will likely deteriorate the vinyl after reapeated use.

    I've got a 95 Talari.

My Depth sounder blinks from time-to-time and has for the last 10 years. Turning it off/on several times seems to correct the problem.

I replaced my stock pedestals with taller/adjustable ones and they were held in only with those long (3-4") galvanized/hex head screws. It was a bear backing them out but I fortunately didn't bust any (try a little WD40 on them). Anyways, once the screws were out, the pedestals lifted out but they stuck a bit to the carpeting...just give them a good nudge to the side.

I dont know what the deal is with the depth sounder, nothings flopping around down there under the engine? I have tried flipping in on or off, disonnecting power, must have flipped it 100 times during last season but still blinks and gives false readings.

My pedistals have 3in hex head ss screws. New scews arnt a problem. I tried pushing on it and kicking it to get it loose, but it wont and I dont want to mess it up. I was wondering if there were some larger bolts under the thin stainless like if it was a colar?

Well, if the wiring to the depth sounder checks out, then it could be the fluid has leaked out of the transudcer.

My depth gauge does the same thing, but I know it's come undone from the epoxy. It won't flop around, as you say, but if you put your hand on it, you can move it around. Chances are that's the problem. If not, then we'll try and help you figure it out.

I tried looking up sea fox boats and saw nothing about this. Im really interested, or hell I may end up making a duplicate of the other one thats on there with vinyl.
