Question More Questions

Hello all, I am new to being a boat owner, bought a 1996 Mariah Shabah 2 weeks ago. been hard buying a new toy and getting to play with it
My blower seems to cut off at times ( i DO NOT run it with out the blower running)as well as my trim button on the throttle does not go all the way up, I have to use the trim button on the rear of the boat. is this due to a short in the wireing? or something else? if it is the wires how hard is it to rewire the whole boat?
also how much water should come out when you pull the drain plug on the rear?

any help would be great thanks!

btw when everything is working good she runs great!

oops pne last thing what should the oil pressure and rpms be while running

The trim button on the throttle only allows you to trim within the acceptable range for cruise under power. The trailer trim level is accessed by a button down below the throttle handle, or alternatively the transom tilt button. You should not operate the drive for extended periods with it at the trailer trim level.

For the intermittent blower, check all the electrical connections. If the blower shuts off after operating for a time it could be an electrical fault in the blower motor, which might require a replacement unit.

Oil pressure should be in the middle ~40psi IIRC. This will vary with engine temp and rpm.

Wide open throttle should get you 4600 to 4800 rpm if your boat is propped correctly. You should get good "on plane" cruising speed at 2800 to 3000 rpm.

As for water in the bilge....carefully examine the bellows for cracks/splits. Technically you shouldn't be getting any water in the bilge but in reality a bit always seems to find its way in there particularly when the boat is sitting on the trailer in the rain.

I have a 1994 and it had a lot of bad (corroded) wiring. You should have a boat electrican check it out.....espically if you have it on salt water.

We had a guy in FL last month have his boat explode in dock because he thought he had the blower on and it was not....fumes built up and bang.

    Not worth messing with.

Others gave good advice - the water issue, there are times I get no water out when I remove the plug - other times it will drain for quite some time. the difference being, what did we do that day? If I had 4 kids wake boarding, skiing and inner tubing. There will be lots of water, not enough to activate the bilge pump. but plenty of water dripping from the bathing suits, life jackets etc.

I have a buddy who freaks when kids get inside the boat after skiing etc - if they don't stand on the swim step and drip off excess before coming in - IT'S A BOAT DESIGNED TO GET WET! I use it, not abuse it!
