Default Winching issue

After our first voyage today, I realized that we have a very small winch (single speed) on the trailer for the size and weight of the boat. I really struggled with winching it up. I was wondering what options do I have on the winch? Are some winches better than others?
I was thinking of something like Winches - Fulton Performance.

It is available at West Marine for like $170.

Have you tried allot of WD 40? Your boat should winch up like a dream on that roller trailer. How about the rollers? Are they all freely spinning?

That winch looks like a nice addition, it looks pretty cool. But make sure nothing in particular isn't creating some drag for you, either in the winch gears or in the rollers. Those rollers can deteriorate eventually.

Hope you had a great first day, today looks to be even better weather! Maybe summer will arrive.

    Zack,
I posted another message with results of our first day out. Good day, but looks like I either lost an impeller or something else overheated my engine.

sanykc, I have no problem winching our 18' boat up and our trailer has bunkers, rather than rollers. Perhaps you're not putting your trailer far enough in the water? I back our trailer down until the tops of the wheel wells are a couple inches under water. One time I didn't back in far enough and it was too much work, so I very carefully let the trailer down the ramp a bit more and problem solved.

Sorry to see you had such a problem on her maiden voyage

Jim, that was the trick. I dunked my trailer tires completely (till the water touches the bottom of the wheel fender) and she winches up without any trouble anymore. And launching is the same. Just a light tip and she slides off like a dream.

Zack, I have also ordered a case of Fluid Film to spray in the rollers and other parts. Hopefully that will keep them well lubricated.

    Thanks a bunch guys,
    Sanu

Great! Glad I was able to help. And thanks for the status update.
