Default Charging issue

Have a 4.3 in my 01 Diablo. Last season noticed that the battery was not charging well. Had the battery checked (it was old) and replaced it. Noticed the voltmeter was still reading low...just above 10 volts. Had a new alternator, so I put it on. In preparation for this season I just changed oil and did other routine stuff. While running I noticed my guage is still reading low. I know the guages are not always accurate, but what is my best course of action from here to determine if I have an issue?

Thanks!!!

Measure the voltage right at the battery, with the engine running using a voltmeter. It should be around 13.5 volts. Be sure to use muffs and your garden hose, if the boat is not in the water.

It was around 13.5 at the battery with the engine running. Strange thing is the battery reads 13 with the engine off.

Sounds like you have a phantom draw or some corrosion somewhere. Try disconnecting each circuit at the fuse block one at a time & see if the voltage pops back up. Or check the voltage at the gauge with a volt meter.

I appreciate the advice. I disconnected the battery completely and it still read just over 13 volts (13.09 I believe) which I thought was strange. Checked my meter agianst another and they both read the same.
