Fariah depth gauge works....sometimes
Hi all. Finally my talari running good, but noticed yesterday at the lake that the in dash depth finder has a mind of its own. Most of the time it would show the depth reading, but then it would start flashing a zero for a few minutes and other times the readout would just be blank, then start working again. I checked wires, connections, etc. didn't matter if the boat was running or not. Any ideas?

Re: Fariah depth gauge works....sometimes
Transducer has come loose from the hull Paul , more than likely.
It's under the engine. Do a search "Depth Finder" or "Transducer" , lots of good info on repairing the issue. |

I had something similar gauge all over the shop, the fluid was low.Topped it up with anti freeze seems ok now

Re: Fariah depth gauge works....sometimes
If you twist off the top half of the transducer there is a viscous liquid to dampen the electric pulse, anti freeze works fine because its just the right viscosity

Re: Fariah depth gauge works....sometimes
Larry,
Could the transducer be in a different location? Only thing I have found under the engine is the bilge pump and the water inlet valve for the transom shower Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Re: Fariah depth gauge works....sometimes
It's either underneath the front of the engine or its on the transom exterior. Never seen them mounted anywhere else.

Re: Fariah depth gauge works....sometimes
Mine was almost up against the transom in the bilge area on the starboard side of the boat.
I 86'd it when I went to my Lowrance Sonar setup , as it didn't work anyway.(cut cable) Can you chase the cable Paul , to see where it goes? |
