Just plain old engine oil in mine. Never had any issues with it...
(Eccept when the ring leaked out the oil)
Re bonded now and reads true at all speeds :-)

Update- filled the transducer mount full of mineral oil (quite a bit more than the 2.4 ounces that the instructions call for), got out on the water Sunday and it worked flawlessly all day.

Which oil was it Paul, Did you fill it to the top?

Don't fill the ring to the top!
Fill it just over half way or when you screw the transducer in it'll overflow and make a mess in the bilge :rolleyes:

I filled it about three quarters if the way full of mineral oil. I did have some shop rags place around it to stop any spills. A little did run out when I snapped it together, but the rags made for an easy cleanup
