Wow that could be the longest post ever. I've seen all types of odd towing combinations at the marina. I have a 2001 f150 and you can definitely feel the z240 behind it. My next truck will be a power stroke no matter what mg wife says!

You're funny! I like your humor! Let me tell you a funny story... My girlfriend thinks I'm saving for a fuel efficient car! Little does she know I'm putting that money towards my next tow vehicle!!! Hahah

I was out looking at F350's the last few days and have a couple of friends who have somewhat older 1's with the 7.3 powerstroke I know they will pull over 20k pds and the newer 2008 and above have the 6.4 and the 6.7 powerstrokes in them, but all this is really over kill for a 27ft boat really when you get down to it. My truck pulls my enclosed trailer loaded with Harley's and a chopper with no problem, as well as pulling my champion with ease. Considering the towing capacity of the truck and it has the trailer brake adj inside the truck, plus the trailer having brakes, I see no problem in keeping what I have to do the job. My 04 same truck and equipment pulled my talari from Oklahoma city to the lake of the ozarks with out a problem at all. Besides the truck just sits their and I never drive it except to pull the toys. So all things considered I think I will stay with what I have. I mean combined weight of the boat and trailer approx 7200 pds I am still 4k pds under max tow anyway.

Like I said............get it in the mountains and see what it does.
Biggest hill you got running from OC to the Lake of the Ozarks is a overpass.
Capacity and ability are two different things.
I said enough on this subject.
Glad your happy with your 1/2ton Ford at your elevation , don't get me wrong , I am a Ford fan from hell!

There is no overkill when it comes to a truck unless you have something like a dually for a 18 ft'er.

Funny stuff Andy... Colorado I hear what you are saying, but we don't have any mountains here in Mo, tall hills yes but no snow caps lol. Now on the other hand if I were taking the boat through the mountains I would use my motorhome, but it would seem kinda silly to take a boat into the mountains lol. Just kidding. My onlly real main concern was the weight and as mentioned stopping. I guess I had a brain fart not to think the trailer had brakes and thats half the issue. Its not as you say the pulling its the stopping, with both my truck and the trailer breaks along with non mountains area's not a problem.

Colorado: This is a typical mo winter as well as our mountains. I have 5k acres 72 miles west of st. Louis so this is a look from my road through my pastures. Not so big compared to a mountain lolhttp://
