Cool Trim Pump

Well my marine mechanic told me today that the trim pump needs to be replaced as its shot. Now mercruiser offers the pump for the low low price of $1000.... Unreal i think as I found one on-line for $400 and have it ordered...My question is can the pump be rebuilt to salvage any of the cost??? Thanks for all the help as usual!!!!! Ralph

I believe there is a rebuild kit available (new seals/screens) but i'll have to do a little looking around first. You might find a kit, rebuilt unit or a good used one on eBay Motors. Also, have a look at SEI Marine Products. They tend to have much lower prices and decent quality replacement parts.

Some can be rebuilt and some can't. The one on my MX-19 wasn't rebuildable and I spent $400 to replace it. But I recently had one rebuilt for an Advantage I was working on. How's that for no help at all?

    Cool Re: Trim Pump

    Hello:
Love that dredd!!! lmao...I have such an old boat that its hard to find information on it at times....They have upgraded the part numbers on almost all the parts from that time(90's)...Looks like $400 is about the lowest price I'm gonna find for a new one...Already bought a used boat and getting a little of used anything...So I think i will stick with the new part and hope for the best...Thanks again Ralph
