Default power trim pump

Today when I checked the power trim oil level the oil was white, is this ok or do I have water in the oil. 1998 shabah 180 4.3. If I do need to change it is it a DIY job. thanks

White, well that definately means water in the oil.. And if there is water in it than probably you need a seal job..

yep, definitely change the oil, and probably the seal as well. since you're a platinum contributor, you will find the "service, repair and installation manuals" section very helpful.

Thanks guys, I put on a new power trim resv. going to see if that makes a difference. noticed the old cap had a vent hole. I did get out as much old oil as I could. refilled with new trim oil and watched it mix with old white oil that was still in system. I did talk to a mercury tech today when I picked up my boat, he said not to worry about it. He fixed my powering steering. I guess some of fittings were loose and he put on new clamps.
