    Welcome to MOC Tim

    1) Check wiring connections to the gauge and to the sending units at the drive.

More than likely trim sending units are bad.

    Check out this thread.

If you do a search for trim issues there are quite a few threads on the subject.

    Once again...........Welcome!!

hi Tim & welcome aboard. This is one of those subjects that has been beaten to death around here. The cause is usually down to a poor electrical connection at the trim motor and/or trim solenoids, or a failing or failed trim sensor on the outdrive. I would suggest that you read the following two 'stickys' that will help you determine where the problem lies before someone here posts a 'i dunno how to help you but i would sure like to cuz i might have to do this myself someday' type response.....

    Troubleshooting your Power Trim/Tilt System

Adjusting or replacing your trim sensors.

Replacing those sensors is a bear of a job since it requires removal of Mercruiser outdrives. And no, i dont want to hear from the Volvo outdrive owners on how easy this job is...

Keep us posted on how you make out!

I replaced the trim sensor on my Volvo leg at the weekend.
Horrible job! took me nearly 10 minutes!

Andy is blind, Andy is. I dont wanna hear from the Volvo outdrive owners...

Here's another link from MercStuff.com for adjusting the trim/tilt sensors. If the wires leading to the sensors are broken, you can try repairing them but is usually means replacement time.
