Re: New Owner/ Erratic trim indicator
Welcome to MOC Tim :)
1) Check wiring connections to the gauge and to the sending units at the drive. More than likely trim sending units are bad. Check out this thread. If you do a search for trim issues there are quite a few threads on the subject. Once again...........Welcome!! |
Re: New Owner/ Erratic trim indicator
hi Tim & welcome aboard. This is one of those subjects that has been beaten to death around here. The cause is usually down to a poor electrical connection at the trim motor and/or trim solenoids, or a failing or failed trim sensor on the outdrive. I would suggest that you read the following two 'stickys' that will help you determine where the problem lies before someone here posts a 'i dunno how to help you but i would sure like to cuz i might have to do this myself someday' type response..... ;)
Troubleshooting your Power Trim/Tilt System Adjusting or replacing your trim sensors. Replacing those sensors is a bear of a job since it requires removal of Mercruiser outdrives. And no, i dont want to hear from the Volvo outdrive owners on how easy this job is... Keep us posted on how you make out! |
Re: New Owner/ Erratic trim indicator
I replaced the trim sensor on my Volvo leg at the weekend.
Horrible job! took me nearly 10 minutes! :p |
Re: New Owner/ Erratic trim indicator
Andy is blind, Andy is. I dont wanna hear from the Volvo outdrive owners... :shakehead: ;)
Here's another link from MercStuff.com for adjusting the trim/tilt sensors. If the wires leading to the sensors are broken, you can try repairing them but is usually means replacement time. |
