Default Questions to start the season... :)

Hi all

Starting to put everything together to get ready for the season, so a few questions to start.

Now, I know I probably should have done all this last year, or at least early in the off season, however..!

Relating to a late 90s Shabah 180 3l merc in the UK.
1. Water filter. Am I right to assume I would have one, and if so where is it likely to be?
2. New Biminis - do I need an expensive custom job, or are there more than adequate standard fits that will work for a couple of hundred bucks?
3. I need a new fuel guage - I see Faria do US and European Resistance models, and 12v/24v models. What's the difference, what am I likely to need?
4. Anodes - moving from seawater to fresh water - much point in changing them if I am mostly keeping her dry, rather than stuck in the river for 6months?

Anything else to worry about in terms of getting her ready after the winter?

Cheers all

    1. There will be a water separating fuel filter. This should be changed wilth your regular seasonal maintenence.
    2. Do a search on the forums, I do believe several members have bought off the shelf Bimini's from places like Overtions.
    3. Faria offers a lifetime replacement on all their gauges. Send it to them and for ~$30 they will send you the correct replacement. Just go their website Faria Instruments Online Returns
    4. I don't have experience with salt/fresh, but I'g guessing if the anodes are still in good shape then you should probably just leave them alone.

    Hope this helps

Just as a little more info on what Z202 said.....Are you sure you 'need' a new fuel gauge? Most of the time it is the connection at the fuel sender unit that has corroded, come undone etc. Be careful with those connections though cuz they can be a little fragile.

As for the anodes, here was some information on the different outdrive protection systems i had posted a while back. It may be of some help to you.
