Default Rough start to season

You know, it's really been a rough start to the boating season. Between the cold spring, constant rain, and engine problems. The first time we went out I had an exhaust hose fail and then this weekend had a fuel pump give out. The high pressure pump had been whining a little and then on the weekend it got much worse and I could only turn around 3500RPM. I got to looking at it and the fuel cell assembly was messed with before and someone replaced just one of the pumps. I'm guessing it wasn't put back together right and the whining was from air being pulled in. $580 for the whole fuel cell assembly which is LP and HP pumps. Aggghhhh! At least it looks pretty easy to replace, right up front on the engine.

Ironically, my fuel pump went out at the beginning of the season too. My engine's equipped with a "Fuel Cooler", and that was the pump that went out. Ended up paying around $600 to have it fixed. I honestly think it's just the age of the parts. 7-8 years of use on a fuel pump, it's bound to fail sooner or later! The good news is, that's probably not an expense we'll have to pay again for another 7-8 years.
