Default Maybe a stupid drain plug question...

Should the transom drain be a solid sealed-off pipe from bilge to outside (think like a thru hull exhaust) or should it be "open" to the inner layers of the transom? I hope that makes sense I don't know a better way to put it...

Lol Mikey!! Mine has the outside bung but nothing connecting through the transom. I surely need a decimate on what's supposed to be there... You can definitely stick your finger in and feel sideways... Wait a minute... That didn't sound good...

I don't remember the inside of the boat being flushed like where a bung would mount inside. If I remember correctly it's kind of scalloped out at the bottom where contours into the drain plug opening. I will take a picture tonight and post it. I'm really hoping someone with a shabah to compare to will comment here shortly...

Also you can't feel that far sideways. You can see the neatly bored hole for the drain. It appears there are drain passages at the bottom of the transom that empty right at the drain plug????

Ok so I took some pictures and thought about this rationally and logically. The depth transducer mounts in a cutout that exposes a hole through to the outside hull, the ski locker has to drain into this cavity or all the way back to the transom drain (underneath the bilge floor somewhere) and looking in the transom drain from the out side there are definite drain holes coming from each side at the bottom of the transom. With all this combined, there. Is no way there could have ever been a solid tube through the transom or none of these areas would ever be able to drain. I just can't figure out for the life of me why they would allow water access to the fiberglass surface of the outside hull. This makes no sense as water can eventually penetrate into the fiberglass and cause separation of the layers and it's not like any of these areas have a lot of air flow and are ever going to dry out quickly... Any ideas or thoughts? Here are some pictures
