Default rear deck over engine- whats the frame made of?

hi gang. looking at my talari's rear deck above the engine (the thing that is hinged and lifts up to access the engine compartment), looks like it bows up a little where the gas charged cylinders attach. is it a wood frame underneath the upolstery? the rest of it feels solid, but if its cracked or rotten under there, i need to get it fixed. wanting to get some insight from someone before i go to removing the vinyl

As long as you have a few nuts, bolts and screws left over after the job is done, it should work!

Yes Paul , the hatch panel itself is made of wood. More than likely , it is just warped from age.
You could use something like aluminum angle iron to straighten it out , but if at all possible in your budget , replace hatch panel with King Starboard and never have to worry about it again.

Here is the info from their site.

    King Starboard

It's a bit pricey , but it is awesome material to work with and it will last forever.

I took a look at that stuff. Sounds like the ideal way to go! From what my wallet is barking at me, I probably better go back with wood for right now. This project is getting close to the budget warning level since I've taken the while interior out to have it reupholstered. I'll get some pics posted when I get it installed. Thanks for passing on the link. I'll save it
