Default Break away Cable????

I have a 96 Z210 with factory trailer an last time out my buddy an me overlooked the cable still being hooked and pulled away.. Cable broke close to tongue. I did some searching an cant find anything on what I need or how hard it is to fix. Any help will be appreciated, planning on moving boat this week for winter storage. Was wondering if its a simple fix an what it takes tool wise since the boat as at a friends. Thanks again..

In the Uk we have a different braking system on our trailers than you do over there in the states,
In fact US trailers are illegal on our roads!!!

The brakeaway cable is designed to operate the hand brake (park brake )
if the trailer becomes separated from the tow vehicle. That way bringing the trailer to a stop after it becomes detached!

Once the brake has been applied the cable "Breaks away"

Our systems are designed to engage the trailer brakes should the trailer become separated from the tow vehicle. When they are activated, the brakes remain on full til you manually release the lever.....and pick up your yard sale items from the ditch.

Lets face it, boat and truck going their own ways is never going to end well

And when you consider that 99% of UK boating is done in Salt water! you can imagine the state of some of the trailers over here!

The chains are great but when you take into account that we don't have the sort of tow rigs over here that you guys have the last thing I want is to be chained to a runaway boat/trailer heading screaming for the nearest over pass!!!!

Yes, its the small cable that will engage the surge brakes if pulled out... Didn't make it over there this week to look at it, will try this weekend. Unable to see it and was wondering what I need to reset it..
    Thanks for the links

The chain on mine is a bit stronger then youd find on a swing set. Im sure if my 8000 boat/trailer were ever break loose, that chain would keep us tied together at all, but would be strong enough to engage the breaks before we broke apart for good.
