Default Sluggish boat

I have been enjoying my summer on the water with the boat. At times I wish it was bigger.

When I first took the boat out, I reached a speed of 52mph at 4700rpm. Lately, The boat will only top out at 48 mph 4600 rpm. Any suggesttions or reason for the drop in speed. I have not done anything to it other then, oil change and fuel filter change.

I have a 1995 Barchetta z192.

The load is roughly the same. I thought maybe fuel filter, but I changed that with no increase with speed. Its not that big of a deal to me, just curious.

    Thanks for reply.

i had that problem last year in my 5.7 . i would get to about 35 mph and would drop. it was a problem with the carburetor. i believe it was a butterfly valve? inside the carb that not opening all the way. idk if your engine has a carb or if its injected but might be worth checking out if u do have a carburetor

My boat has a carb. I was thinking maybe the carb, sometimes when I throttle down it will hesitate.

    Thanks for reply.

The outside air temperature affects performance. The hotter it is, the less performance you get.

The best performance I ever got out of my boat was a cool spring day when I was by myself on flat water.
