Default Mariah boat for sale, should I re-think this boat?

Hey guys, I posted a few weeks back in regards to a mariah, unfortunatly it had sold. I am now on the look out and found a beauty. The owner says its in excellent shape , however I have yet to see it. The following ad he has it listed for $10,500 and its a 1996 , I got him down to $9500 (pending on how great shape it is when I go see it) but I'm unsure if im paying to much for a boat thats about 15 years old. I heard good things about mariahs and everytime theres one for sale it gets sold really fast. Its currently stored at a marina and the owner is going to have it started, checked over and do a compression test when I get there. If everything goes to plan should I get this one or should I keep looking? its has the 4.3 merc, here is the ad

MARIAH 18.5 Bowrider w/Merc Alpha 1 Drive Excellent condition - City of Toronto Powerboats, Motorboats For Sale - Kijiji City of Toronto Canada.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

First off, its either a 180 or a 190 not a 18'5". Second, that's not the original trailer (Heritage/Chariot or Prestige are originals), third it looks like the owner has removed the graphics & then painted the hull and last it looks like someone has applied a hull treatment of some sort to slow down marine growth. If its docked at Long Point Bay (Port Rowan/St.Williams/Turkey Point) that might be understandable. $9500 is a premium price (due to the time of year) but if it meets all of your standards & passes inspection only you will know if its worth it.

Right now we're about equal ($1.0475 Cdn = $1.00 US) but the prices of boats are generally 20% higher up here.

That probably isn't the original as the ad stated "newer". However, the brand of trailer generally depends on the original dealer. My original 94 came with a Roadmaster trailer manufactured here in Fort Worth. My original dealer was Fin and Feather in Fort Worth (now Tracker Boat Center).

By the way. I think he means it is 18 foot 5 inches in length which I believe is what my 190 model is.

What he said. The simple fact that they don't stay for sale long should tell you something obout these boats. I'd take the Mariah over anything for the same price on the boat show floor. These boats are really well made. The interior shows a bit of wear (back of seats at the hatch) but overall it appears to be all there and really well cared for which is the big issue on these boats. For what it's worth my 202 rides on a single axle Eagle bunk trailer. Good luck with it.
