Default Ignition Sensor

Hello all
Im a few days old to the site and found it to be great. I have a 1999 Z202 5.7. I am trouble shooting why my engine stops suddenly at different intervals. I could be just idling or towing a skier and the engine just dies with run on. I changed the plugs, ran about 36 gallons of fuel with seafoam and now im changing the ignition sensor. The new sensor has a third black ground wire that my old one does not have, where should I mount it?

    Can you give us a engine/drive #?
Did you try changing out the fuel filter?
Do a fuel preasure test , should be around 32 psi.

Hey Larry thanks for the reply. The third wire was a ground, I mounted it to the manifold. The old senor was so bad it melted but you cant see it until you remove it. The new sensor is sealed. The engine is a 350. I took it for a ride yesterday and it ran great. It did however die twice but I think the choke is sticky. I also changed fuel/water seperator and empty the fuel in a glass jar. it looked clean. I did a test with that fuel because it has seafoam in it. I put some water drops in the jar. water sank the the bottom, I waited one hour and the water expanded double in size after two hours it was gone so the seafoam works well. Breaks the water down so it can run thru the carb and burn it out. S I think this should solve my problem.
    Thanks Peter IL River
