New page in the saga.
I took it out last Saturday, I only ran it for a couple of hours because I was working nights and had to work that night. It ran fine but on the way back in as I was bent over digging for my keys in the glove box I smelled oil and noticed the oil pressure had dropped to almost zero. I opened the hatch and sure enough the bilge was full of oil. Luckily we were at the ramp and it wasn’t knocking or making any noise yet. When I got it home I checked the oil, it was too low to touch the stick…. Back to the shop!
They were closed Sunday so Monday I took it in and he said he’d check it real quick probably something simple he could fix while I waited. It took three quarts to put it back on full and we noticed water in the oil. We put the muffs on and ran it to find the leak. One of the hoses going from the block off plate to the remote oil filter was leaking not, a problem to fix. Now why is there water in the oil? Remember my first post
Mechanic you trust the part about it running hot? Apparently my mechanic didn’t because the baffles were melted and water was coming in through the exhaust when I stopped. Can’t believe he didn’t change those when he put the new engine in. If he had done what i asked him, change all the hoses while he had the engine out ALL THE HOSES water, gas, oil, hydraulic, etc. any and all hoses he could find, I would not have had an oil leak.
This morning he called and said he had the baffles replaced but couldn’t find a replacement hose and would have to order one, it’ll be next week getting here. I suggested NAPA could make one he said he already checked with them and no go. He called me back and said there is a specialty hose place in Memphis that might be able to build it but he didn’t have time to do it, if I would go get it he would have the boat back to me today. So I drive to Bartlett (about 40 miles 1 way) and they can’t make it either so I say “just make me a hydraulic hose with these fittings” it cost 120 bucks! So when I get back the mechanic takes one look and says “I could’ve got that at NAPA” (no ****!! For about 30 bucks) it won’t work, it’s too big to fit. So I go install it myself, it fit easily and wasn’t even a tight fit. Now I go tell the mechanic the hose is on and he can start changing the oil. He’ll have to change it, run it, change it, run it a few time to get all the water out. It’s 5 o’clock I have to go to work, he’s leaving wont be back till Tuesday so guess what no boat memorial day weekend!!
Ok I'm through venting lol. It'll come together eventually.
