new engine, no power
I finally got my boat out of the shop yesterday (new engine, water pump, gimbal ring assembly, etc.), took it to the lake for its first run on new 300hp engine. No power on takeoff, bogging bad, will not pull a skier, just barley plane, if trim is up just a little it will not plane.
Shop is not open till monday, Would like to fix it today. Any suggestions? |
Re: new engine, no power
Sounds like timing issue. or your plug- wires could be placed wrong. Just a thought.

Re: new engine, no power
Yes thats what I think or maybe bad gas. I put 50 gal of fresh gas in it, it already had some gas in it but that did not fill it up. I'm leaning more toward timing, it runs fine, it just boggs under load.

Re: new engine, no power
I agree, most likely timing issue. Call the shop and let them know. I would not mess with it too much myself since you just got it back. Make them earn their money. Good luck

Re: new engine, no power
Yes. I decided not to screw with it. Don't want to void the warranty.

What came of this?

Re: new engine, no power
Bet it was the old 180 degree off. Done that a couple times myself lol.

Re: new engine, no power
Still not sure its fixed though. He said he couldn't get it to rev up in the pit, but sometimes that happends with bigger boats and dual props (never heard that before). He said try it out & bring it back if still not right.

Re: new engine, no power
Nope didn't fix it. It ran a lot better at first, but then it started knocking & bogging then back firing. It never died but I pulled it back before it did. Tried again same thing. I went ahead and ran it like this just to see if it was bad gas (I put in two cans of seafoam & filled it up) but after about an hour and a half that was enough. On the way back it started missing too a couple times it started to pick up but then fall on its face again. Back to the shop!
