Default Anyone replaced their cuddy hatch?

Hi All,

Has anyone replaced their cuddy / deck hatch? I've been looking at the Taylor Made site but not been able to find a good match. The cheapest I have found is $800 too!

Mine has a plastic surround and after 12 years of weather the hinges have gone brittle and finally given way. So just wondered if anyone had tackled this job before me?

Many thanks,

Steve.

    Hi Steve,

I believe you've got a pretty good size hatch over your cuddy and I don't believe this was a in-house item, so by chance, have you checked your hatch for a manufacture's name or label?

lastly, could you provide us with the dimensions for your hatch so we know what size to look for?

    Thanks,
    WetWilly

    Steve,
I have replaced my hatch twice. I couldn't tell you how much I paid for mine, but I remember it was pricey. It wasn't hard to do at all. Like Willy said, take some measurements of the hatch.
I went to the service shop that I use and took my demensions to them and they matched me up good. I don't recall the make of ours.
    Good Luck and have fun,
    LBS

Thanks for the replies guys, planning to strip the hatch off at the weekend so I'll get some accurate measurements and search for the manufacturers details then, as didn't have time when i spotted it.

Was just hoping that there may have been a known standard. Oh well, rather have a rock solid hand built boat that needs a bit of searching for parts than generic dullness I guess

    Thanks again,

    Steve.

The original hatches were made by either Bomar or Taylor Made. I believe you can order replacement hatches at quite a few places online, you'll just need the measurements.
