Cool Cuddy storage modification??

I was pondering why Mariah didn't better maximize cuddy storage on some of there models? In my Talari there are no compartments under the front bed. You pull the cushions out and its just carpeted paneling. When I smack on it it sounds hollow, and the gas tank is obviously located elsewhere.

Why not have a hatch like other open bows and some other cuddys to store extra jackets, spares prop, etc?? The space is already so limited.

Has anyone stumbled across anything where someone has modified a storage hatch is this area? Seems like you could cut an opening out pretty easy and install a premade bin with a lip on it.

What do you think? Am I smoking something here?

My 96 Z215 has floor compartments in the cabin. There's one under each side cushion and another under the cushion just forward of the footwell. They aren't big, but definately better than nothing. From looking at your pics I'd bet our hulls were made in the same molds, so you should be able to cut some in. I'll try to get some good pics of mine soon so you can get an idea where they are.

I got some pics the other day of my cuddy compartments, but have to remember to upload from my camera when I'm at the house...

    Here we go:

    Forward Compartment

    Starboard Compartment

The port side has the same compartment as the starboard. I'll try to remember to take a tape measure with me next time to give you the general layout in relation to the edges of the footwell.

I'm bringing this back up to the top since it looks like I'll be using the boat for another season and baby #3 means I'll need every square inch of space.

Anyone have any idea where to get the hatches AirNavy supplied pics of?
