Default Control arm not shifting out of forward

I just bought a 2000 Z250 and put it in the water for the first time and it wont go into neutral or reverse. I pulled the control arm all the way back to the reverse postion and it wont even hit neutral. The cables are attached and moving on the engine mount assembly but I can't see where the cable connects to the outdrive.
Do I have to pull the whole out drive off to change out cable? Any advice would be great!

    Hello Lunaticutah,

If it's the secondary shift cable to the outdrive, then the answer is yes, the outdrive has to come off.
Section 4 of the Bravo Sterndrive manual explains the procedure. It starts on page 4A-20.

Unless you're familiar with or have done this repair before, I suggest taking it to a qualified Merc service center.

    Hello

I just had the same problem. You have to pull the out drive back, to switch out the cable. Mine was rubbing the U-joints on the drive shaft, and wore out the outter hsg.
    thanks
