Control arm not shifting out of forward
I just bought a 2000 Z250 and put it in the water for the first time and it wont go into neutral or reverse. I pulled the control arm all the way back to the reverse postion and it wont even hit neutral. The cables are attached and moving on the engine mount assembly but I can't see where the cable connects to the outdrive.
Do I have to pull the whole out drive off to change out cable? Any advice would be great! |
Re: Control arm not shifting out of forward
Hello Lunaticutah,
If it's the secondary shift cable to the outdrive, then the answer is yes, the outdrive has to come off. Section 4 of the Bravo Sterndrive manual explains the procedure. It starts on page 4A-20. Unless you're familiar with or have done this repair before, I suggest taking it to a qualified Merc service center. WetWilly |

Hello
I just had the same problem. You have to pull the out drive back, to switch out the cable. Mine was rubbing the U-joints on the drive shaft, and wore out the outter hsg. thanks |
