Default I know it is a Z240 but is it a Shabah or?

Hello all,

I have this 1995 Mariah Z240 which had a cracked block so i replaced it with a new in crate Mercruiser Generation VI 7.4 MPI with 350HP. New bellows, exhaust, Bravo 1 etc. I love the boat and it is in nice condition now however, I am planning to make it pristine. It is a fresh water boat loving the Minnesota summer! It has a cuddy cabin (we sleep in and love it) but not sure of what options it has or doesn’t from standard order. I drives me out of the navigational beacons not knowing what model it actually is. is it a Z240 Shaba or Z240 ______?

Best regards,
Denelli

Hi Denelli and welcome to the club!

The picture you posted looks like a Z240 but from 1994 to 1996, they did not come with lower port hole windows as they were all Bowriders.

What you have in the picture isn't a '95 but rather a '92 or "93 Z240 (No other designation like Talari or Shabah), They were the only Z240s with a cuddy cabin and dual port hole windows.

Can you post a few more pictures of the swim platform, interior and dash so we can figure out the year or PM me your HIN.

Thank you guys for the quick response. Hmmm... maybe I found a rare gem in the rough...? Well, even if its a few years older than what seller stated, I am very happy with her. I would like to find a nice pre-owned stainless pusher for her but not sure what pitch I should run. I suppose trimmed out, she is turning 5400 RPM's. Maybe that's the correct rpm's. It has an nice holeshot but I am sure that aluminum prop is flexing like a well made German fillet knife...! A couple more miles an hour would be greeted with open arms. Thx again for the welcome and assistance with identifying the ol girl...

    Talk to you soon...

    Denelli,

If you decide that 21 pitch is what you want, I've got a Quicksilver Mirage 48 13702 21 that's been gently used. It's been bouncing around the back of my boat for years and it's about time I peddle it to help offset the cost of a new stereo. It was the prop that came on my 95 Z240, 7.4L Bravo I. I replaced it with an AeroStar (17->21)variable pitch about a month after I got the boat and have a spare set of blades for that.

Let me know if you're interested and I'll be happy to send you some pics and close-ups.

    Scott,

Hmmm… Five minutes of research and I really like the idea of the Aerostar prop. Constant speed props in aviation make all the sense in the world. Apply a little aerospace technology (no pun intended) in the marine world and see great things happen, right? All we need now for boats is an application for vortex generators! Well, even though I love the idea of a constant speed prop, it looks like it would harvest all the weeds in my lake and keep them all on the root of the blades. Your thoughts? I may go for your 21 but maybe a 19 SS would be best… Think I’ll sleep on it and talk to you tomorrow.

    Have a good night….

Just in case you wanted to see what year boat you really have, check this out.

    Hull ID Numbers

It'll help you decode the month and the year your boat was made!

    Denelli,

The 19 may help with the hole shot but you probably exceed your max rpm's and lower your full speed. The Aerostar gives me awesome hole-shot performance and then shifts up to 21 once the boat is up on plane. It's set right around 3000 rpm's but it takes a slight let-up on throttle to engage the shifting mechanism. If you just throw the throttle wide open and leave it there, it will stay at 17 and it will over-rev. It really feels like the shifting of an automatic transmission in a car. Problem is that today's price for the Aerostar has gone outta site from what I see on their website...more than doubled from when I bought mine from them. Not sure I would justify spending $2K for a prop these days.
