Post New Member - Non-Owner - Looking to buy a Z240!

I am new to the forum and I am looking to buy a 1993 Z240 that does not have a trailer. It has been stored on a lift all its life. Does anyone have specifications for the hull dimensions? I am looking at a used fix bunk trailer and want to know if the boat will fit. Trial and error is a little difficult right now so I want to know how close the boat will fit before I bring the boat and trailer together. Thanks! Great fourm with seemingly a lot of passionate Mariah owners!

Hello c6timmons and welcome to the club!

I purchased a new trailer last year for our 1996 Z240 Talari, It's a galvanized tandem axle. Not sure what specs for the hull your looking for so if you could be a little more specific, I'll try to answer your questions if I can.

So let me know what you need and we'll go from there, OK?

    Default Z240 Specs

    Wet Willy,

Thanks for the reply. I tried an earlier reply but I am not sure it went. Anyway, the trailer I am looking at is built for a 24' Four Winns. If you had information on the Mariah similar to the below information that is what I am looking for. This is the Four Winns info.

    Specifications
    LOA 24'0"
    Beam 8'6"
    Deadrise 20º
    Maximum Capacity 2100
    Approx. Boat & Engine Weight 4180 - 4450
    Draft (drive up) 17"
    Draft (drive down) 35"
    Trailer Weight 1560

    Thanks!

    Hi c6timmons

Here's the info for the 1993 Z240 Talari:

    Specifications
    LOA 23'4"
    Beam 8'5"
    Deadrise 20º
Maximum Capacity N/A (you should have a capacity plaque near the driver seat, ours is 12 persons or I believe just under 2300 LBS)
Approx. Boat & Engine Weight 3750 lbs (Approx. w/5.0L Alpha I/O)
    Draft (drive up) 14"
    Draft (drive down) 31"
    Trailer Weight N/A

Interesting to note, It shows your Talari as a Cuddy Cabin but from 94 and on, the Z240 Talari became an Bow Rider and jumped to 4000 lbs from 95 and on

Though I'd throw this in as well - here's some info from the 1997 Chariot trailer Brochure for the 24' series Mariahs:

    Carrying Capacity 6000 lbs
    GVWR 7480 lbs
    Weight 1300 lbs
    Axles 2

Just remember to figure in the weight of any fuel, fluids, safety and play gear into the boats total weight when looking at the trailer capacity. I was told a good rule of thumb is to take the total weight and add 10% on top of that to be safe.

    Good luck,
    WetWilly

    Smile Z240 spec's

    Wet Willy,

Thanks for the information. I looked in NADA for the information I had gained so far and according to NADA it looks like the boat wasn't listed as a Talari. I do have a picture of the plaque on the boat. It actually says the boat is a 2300C. The owner said it is a Z240. Looks like other 240 or 241's I've seen on the internet. Anyway I would imagine that any 23' Mariah in 1993 would have a similar hull whether it is a open bow or cuddy. I appreciate you taking time to respond to my question. This should help me with my quest of a used trailer. Otherwise I have a line on a decent price for an adjustable new trailer. Trying to save some dollars with the used if it will work. I will post information once I have the boat and update my profile.

    Thanks again!

    Hi c6timmons,

Could you post some pictures of this Mariah from the sides, front and back and if possible the hull ID located on the Starboard rear corner possibly just below the swim platform level and the interior, dash and plaque (jeez, I'm not asking for a lot, am I ) ?

I can't find a 2300C listed in our documentation or on NADA, the closest I can find is a 2350 ZC so between the pics and the hull ID we shold be able to determine what you have. If it is a 2350 ZC, the specs are the same as the Z240, so is seems you are correct that the hulls are similar. Hopefully one of our members will be more familiar with this model.

One last thing... I am always for saving money when you can, but if your Mariah is going to spend a lot on time sitting on the trailer, you may want to consider spending the extra dollars to insure you don't end up stressing the hull due to a poor fit. Well anyway, that was my logic for getting another trailer for ours...

    Good luck,
    WetWilly

Default Pic's of Z240 for confirmation

    Wet Willy,

I have some pic's, however I could not get a picture of the hull i.d. The boat is on a lift and winterized and I didn't have a way to get in a position to take a picture of the rear. I should have written it down. The owner is not currently residing where the boat is located and all the documentation is where the boat is kept. Thanks again for your help and I understand your comment about proper fitment of a trailer to the boat. Whatever trailer I end up with will properly fit the boat. I only trailer boat so it has to be right. I do have some good photos, but don't understand how to insert images on this post. Are there instructions somewhere?

    Thanks!

    Hi c6timmons,

She looks like new, that's amazing for being a 15 years old Mariah!!

From your pictures, it looks like you have yourself a Z240! It 's the upper deck and hand rails that helped identify which model you have.

The 2350 ZC has a taller upper deck and tall hand rails completely circling the bow where as your Z240 has a lower deck, and the hand rails begin at the bow cleats and are low to the hull.

If the rest of her is in as good of a condition as the pictures your posted and the price is right, you will definitely have a beauty on your hands.
