Default sticky neutral button on volvo penta

I have a new to me 2001 Diablo with the 4.3l Volvo Penta. The Neutral button on the control unit sticks when I start the boat. So far after repeated jiggling and attempts I have been able to eventually get it into gear. I am nervous every time we launch that this time it won't work. Is there any easy fix or way to lube the button??

Thanks for the help

I will hopefully see your question answered... I have pulled the entire panel while on the water, found nothing wrong, put it back together and worked fine for 3 months (12-14 days on the water).

    than it got stuck again...

The switch is not hard to get at if you remove the throttle control from its panel.

Once removed the switch should be a readily replaceable part from Volvo or tracked down by an electronics supplier.

If you ever find yourself in a real bind, you can remove the wires from the switch and connect them together to bypass the switch till you get back and can have it replaced. Dont use as a permanent solution however as it could create a dangerous situation with a boat starting with the prop engaged.
