Question Considering '99 212Z Shabah

I will be looking at a '99 212Z Shabah this weekend and was hoping to glean some opinions from "the experts" who have experience with these boats.

I missed out on a 2001 212 a year ago, but I was very impressed with the fit and finish of this boat. I looked at a 2003 Mariah cuddy this week, and was disappointed with how it was appointed in comparison to the 2001. I have since learned the history of the 2001 closing of the original company.

The bowrider I am looking at has 300HP with a Bravo 1. I am not sure yet of all the options, but I understand that the Z package comes with most. This boat also has through the hull exhaust.

Would there be anything I should take particular note of when looking at this boat?

The price is $11,900 with trailer which is below NADA. Boat has 210 hours on it.

Thanks,

post some pics so that we can "see" for ourselves!

Based on the year/options, the asking price is extremely attractive.

I would recommend that you have the boat "surveyed" by a marina or shop that you know/trust. Expect to pay $10-15 per foot. This will give you piece of mind in regards to the seaworthy-ness of the vessel.

Another thing to keep in mind (I have purchased 3 used boats) is that you will probably need to have some "extra" funds available after purchase. On average, I have spent 10-20% of the purchase price in repairs/updates/improvements after the initial purchase.

I have only had my Z202 for a month, but I am extremely impressed. I am coming from owning Mastercraft ski/wakeboard boats previously, and the Mariah brand is no slouch. The boats are very well thought-out, and have many additions that most boats haven't even considered yet. When they designed/built these boats, they did a very good job of providing practical and useful design/build features. Every time I look in the boat, I find something else that impresses me. Good stuff!

Keep us posted with your progress, and don't be upset if this boat doesn't work out. Good things come to those who wait!

This board is an incredible source of information...keep poking around and you will be rewarded for your efforts.

    Default buy it

great price. I have a 99 Z222, awesome boat. Other than the obvious, engine, drive and gelcoat, you may want to check the power sunpad, power nav light, windsheild wiper, defogger, dock lights (these are all Z options and sometimes need attention).........good luck

Yes, that's a good price, if you can, post some pics if you've got them! Or if it's online somewhere, forward us a link so we can all check it out!

I assume this is the boat that is on the mariah craigs list for 11,900 by the looks of it it is in great shape and is a good deal. I would if I didnt have my mariah have bought it myself but first do a test run. If everything turns out ok on the test run then I would say it is a great buy. Good luck and happy hunting.

    Default Thanks

Thanks to all for the great input. I am thrilled that this forum exists. The link to this listing is attached. DWMAX, you had the one from Craigs list.

    http://nh.craigslist.org/boa/783256402.html

I was advised the power sunpad actuation motor was no longer working, and that the front NAV light needed to be replaced. This appears to be a $146.00 item from Accon Marine. The sunpad motor I'll just have to deal with assuming the rest of the boat is clean.

Price was recently reduced from $12,900 to $11,900.

    Thanks all,

If you do a quick search through the forum, you'll find many people's electric hatch lifters don't work, and they were removed in favor of gas struts. Mine didn't come with one, and had gas struts already installed. It's much quicker to open it by hand anyway. The electric ones sometimes take upwards of a minute to get the hatch fully open. However if you wanted to replace it, we've got the info you need!

And as far as your nav light, if it truly is the pop up light from accon, you could afford to replace it with the $1k price drop!

I say go for it!! You won't be disappointed!

I agree with shabah 250 go for it it is a good deal. I say test drive and if it runs good then you wont regret it. my boat has great power and does 60mph on the water and I believe that boat has the same power plant and you will love the abillity to either go fast or just cruise. ALEAST I DO
