Default Trim sender unit.

i have read that replsacing the trim limit and trim sender unit is a pretty big job. also nwatched video and i don't have all those tools. the units are relatively easy to get to so why can't you just change the unit to existing wire? Taking the stern drive off is only necessary to change out the long pigtail wires.

Just asking.

Its not impossible to change out the trim/tilt sensor units without removing the outdrive but its dammed near that bad. The units work on resistance. If you create a connection, you affect the resistance levels therefore its needs to have a one piece wire to the trim/tilt motor.

Most people just say screw it and leave 'em alone until the outdrive has to come off for service or repair work.

If you want to test the system or see what's involved, there are a couple of STICKYS in the Maintenance Forum.
