Default Alpha 1 Trim sender repair

Does anyone have experience with replacing the little disk inside the trim gauge sender?

I took the sender cover off today, as the gauge has been erratic for a while. It had evidently had some water leak in at some point in the past, so the contacts and the sliders on the little disk were somewhat corroded. I pulled the little disk out to clean it up a bit, and unfortuantely I dropped it causing it to break into several pieces.

I callled one local marine shop, and the told me they only sold a kit which included both senders (trim gauge and trim limit) complete for a mere $107.

I can't believe you can't just buy a replacement disk. I'm hoping someone must have sourced these in the past.

Have you checked with CAS Marine here in Cambridge? I was sure i saw a replacement trim sender unit for about $65 there earlier this summer. I was eyeing it because my sender unit hasn't worked all season. I attempted to clean it but no luck. You could also check with Dave up at Waterloo Marine on Baffin Place. Another place worth calling is Massels out in New Hamburg. Rob Massel is the service / parts guy.

Yeah, those places are all on my list when I get back into town. I'm spending the last week of summer up on Georgian bay.

I really don't pay much attention to the gauge anyway, as I usually trim by sound and feel.

I was hoping someone may have had experiece just replacing the disk. Replacing the entire sender (the proper way) is apparently a huge job. I can't believe you can't just buy the sender's internal parts separately.
