Default here for help

Hello all, just found this site, so glad to see a community of Mariah owners. I have a 1999 Z 222 and the boat has not been run in three years. Needless to say , got starting probs.
Going through the list of trouble shooting and I cannot find the fuel shut off. Its a merc 5.0 EFI. I hope someone can please help with this, thanks Jason.

    Welcome jason!
    Need more info.
What is the serial # of your engine?
I don't believe there is a "shutoff" for your engine.
Does the engine start , just hard starting?
Does it start , then die?
Or does it not fire at all?

I merged your other thread with this one jason.

Hello Larry, thanks for responding. I found this number on the block, but it looked to be a sticker V10299ZA. I hope that is what you need.
No it wont start at all. just put in a new started / battery and no sign at all to start. thanks Jason

Does the engine "click" when you turn the key , or it turns over , but just won't fire?
Get me the # off of the drive. It should be a 7 digit # starting with two letters followed by 5 numbers jason.
If you aren't getting any power to the starter , try pushing the red reset button on the left front of the motor.
Also make sure your kill switch line is plugged in.
When you turn the key on , can you hear the fuel pump prime?

yes turns over great but no spark at all. I have never used a kill switch?? where would that be ? the outdrive # OL524671
so I am unaware of a kill switch, I wonder if the guy who put in the starter has done something with that, jason

To be honest with you jason , I'm not sure where it is on your boat. Should be a rocker switch or a button switch like this I believe.
I'm sure one of the other members can chime in with that info for your boat.

hi Larry, I looked at the link, I have never used one of those to run the boat. Very strange if that's standard . Thanks for your input, yes hopefully some others can help. Jason

Jason its imperative you know what a kill switch is and what's it for. If you get thrown out your boat whilst carrying high speed maneuvering or god forbid you hit something the kill switch will detach itself (as long as you have it attached to you) and stop the engine dead. You wouldn't want to be in a situation where you have fallen out of your boat only to watch your boat sail off in to the sunset!

Sorry to bust in on your thread like that.
    cheers

    Hi Jason,
take a look at this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bR269MorNssand you'll get my drift. there are lots more on youtube you can watch
I would of thought that a kill switch would be compulsory on all boats!!
you would never want to in the water with an out of control boat circling around you..

    cheers
    Lewy
