Default Automatic bilge pump won't shut off

I'm having an issue with my '94 Davanti 225 - the automatic bilge pump turns on, even when water is low, and remains on. I've checked the float mobility and it is free moving. Even it I push it all the way down, it stays on. I suspect some contacts may need cleaning but am unsure where to start. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Just me , but I'd replace the switch altogether. Would never trust it again. 20-30 bucks is cheap compared to a sunk boat

Just a silly question, but could it be that the switch on your console (assuming you have one)has gone bad or it's on? I will admit that my kids turned mine on one time and it took me awhile before I figured out that the little devils were playing with the switches.
