Cool V Belt Repair

There is a situation that can happen to us 3.0L engine boaters that someone may have an answer. Changing/installing the V belt is a problem due to the motor mount in the way. Should the belt break while on the water, is there an emergency procedure known to get you back to shore or do you just hope the battery will last ?

Moved your thread Jim for a better chance at getting more responses.

Might want to carry something like this on board Jim.

I've actually heard of someone who carried a couple of ladies nylons in their car trunk to use in the event a belt breaks....just to get them home.

It's been a very long time since i owned a 3.0 but it seemed like you could remove a spacer on one side of the front mount and a new one goes in easily. If not I had also heard of having a spare already there just in case.

I had an old Cobalt with a 350 and we did what Andy is talking about. We just put an extra belt behind the new one and zip tied it up.

I've heard stories of people supporting the engine with an ore and a ratchet strap, then dropping the front mount. But it's not something I’d like to try out on the water!
