Gear lube is "cream"? Do you mean milky?
If so, you have water in the outdrive lube and need to get that out of there right away. I would clean the reservoir and refill with correct lube too. Make sure you have drained the existing lube from the outdrive by leaving both of the plugs out for a couple of hours. Refill the outdrive with correct lube per instructions and check condition of lube after your next outing. If milky again, you need to get the outdrive resealed by a Mercruiser mechanic. Do not mess around with this issue as you could destroy the outdrive by running it with contaminated lube.
