1999 merc alpha 1 gen II outdrive, pervious owner had cut the resivoir gear oil line and put a plastic splice fitting in the hose (to help avoid stress on the plastic transom through haul fitting) . Well the plastic splice broke while I was on the water and leaked causing the low revivoir alarm to sound. Drove back to dock an I've since fixed the splice with a brass hose coupler. Should I drain and change the outdrive oil or just top off the resivoir and run it though the summer?
