Outdrive oil ?
 
1999 merc alpha 1 gen II outdrive, pervious owner had cut the resivoir gear oil line and put a plastic splice fitting in the hose (to help avoid stress on the plastic transom through haul fitting) . Well the plastic splice broke while I was on the water and leaked causing the low revivoir alarm to sound. Drove back to dock an I've since fixed the splice with a brass hose coupler. Should I drain and change the outdrive oil or just top off the resivoir and run it though the summer?

Can you see if you have water intrusion in your resivoir?

Went ahead with a drain and change today.

It really is the safest choice verse shelling out $ for a new lower end.
