Default Glad to join the Club!

Just bought a 1999 Shabah 182. What a great site this is! I see spending quite a bit of time here. My wife and three boys (5, 8, 10) are excited to become boat owners...espically of such a great brann boat.

Question for someone right away: I've read posts regarding replacing the rub strip. Mine is fine structurally, however both the rubber strip and the hard casing have been "rubbed" enough times that they are now closer to black than the original white color. Has anyone ever tried to paint the hard casing, and then replace the rubber strip? I do plan to get new graphics decals, and touching up the rub strip would go a long way.

Also, both my glove box covers are cracked. Any leads on cosmetic replacement parts?

Thanks!
Todd

Hi Todd and welcome to the club and congradulations on being a new Mariah owner!!!

I suggest discussing the painting of the rub rail with an auto body shop, you will need a flexing additive mixed in with the paint to prevent it from cracking off since you're dealing with vinyl, similar to the flexing issues with the front and rear ends of most new cars. If you want to replace it, the rub rails can be acquired from Taco Marine (click here).

For the factory graphics, contact our member 95 Z240 Talari, He may just have them, click here.

The Glove boxes were in-house items and are no longer available, I would again suggest talking to your auto body shop, they may have experienced in plastic and fiberglass repair.

    Good luck,
