After having experienced a dead battery or two, I decided it was time to add a second battery. Although I hated to lose the storage space, I located the batteries on starboard side of the engine. I installed a battery switch which allows me to run off 1 or 2 or both, a battery combiner which ensures both batteries are charged from the alternator and finally, I added an onboard combination charger with a thru-hull 110V receptical on the transom. This way, my batteries are always topped off and ready to go.
