Doing a bit of searching, and I believe my 182 Barchetta with the 4.3L v6 alpha one vessel + trailer should be somewhere around 3000lb...its on a single axle Eagle trailer...I have as level as i can get it with a 2" drop.



At this overall weight, what kind of tongue weight should i see? When boat is parked level, i can grab the tongue and lift it around, so i decided to measure it with a bathroom scale...it came around 110-120lb...does that sound about right?

I never take it for long trips, just small trips to the local lakes.

Reason i ask is due to a long trip im taking soon as when i drive it around town, i do feel a slight slight jerking as it seems like the boat might be wanting to lift up on the tongue vs pushing down on it...or this might be a normal single axle trailer trait?

I tend to over think things so just wanted to get you guys opinion.

Recommended tongue weight is 10% minimum and 15% maximum on a single axle trailer. You should be somewhere around 225 - 250lbs.

RECOMMENDED HITCH WEIGHT PERCENTAGES
TYPE OF TRAILER PERCENT OF WT. ON TONGUE
Single Axle 10% minimum/15% maximum
Tandem Axle 9% to 15%
Travel Trailer 11% to 12%
5th Wheel 15% to 25%

Thank you. That's what I have been reading too. Wonder why the boat came balanced out like that. Seems like it's been like that since new.

Added a spare to the front of the trailer, close to the tongue, and that got me to about 165lb tongue weight, so getting closer to the ideal weight...i can adjust the front winch arm assembly back and fourth, and seems like i can scoot it forward about 2" before my trim tabs even touch the rear bunks if the boat is too forward..that should help as well.
