Default Prop Question 1993 MX19

Alright....I've read through just about every thread on here, and am pretty sure I need a 14.5" 19 pitch prop. The question I have is are there any particular brands to steer towards or away from? I've got a local marina here with a solas prop that'll fit but they say I'll need a hub kit as well and the whole package is about 139.

I guess this is actually a two part question.....as far as the hub kit goes....What exactly is the purpose. I'm assuming it just makes the propeller fit but honestly I know nothing about this stuff.

Mainly though I'm just curious about brands. I don't want to drop 4 or 5 hundred on a prop, and I'm going to stick with aluminum just because there's a lot of shallower spots where I boat and would rather break a prop than anything else.

$139 for a Solas prop & hub kit is ok. The hub kit allows for interchangeability of props so that if you buy a hub kit you wont need to buy another one if you buy a prop that uses the same hub kit.

Have a look at this link for props at iboats.com. It should give you lots of choice & a comparison on pricing. The 19" sounds about right for your boat but dont worry quite as much about the exact 14.5" diameter.

I've also seen the hub kits strip out if you hit something...instead of breaking a prop, or god forbid an outdrive!
