Fear not ... those holes look amazing with speakers in them!

We mounted the amp to the back or the back seat (remember I only bought marine grade components, so hopefully a little drip here and there won't hurt)

My wife took this opportunity to clean, clean, clean oh ... and vacuum.

Firefly is clean from stem to stern.

Thanks Mikey, that means a lot coming from you. I am hoping to make a nice clean professional install here - along with some nice upgrades to a few things.

OK so I mentioned I wanted to put my 10 inch sub here ... it would not take up any of my storage space and I thought it would look real good.

BUT my sub requires almost exactly a 1 cubic foot SEALED box to produce optimal sound ... Soooo it was not going to happen here without some serious crafting and measuring and figuring and making a very strange shaped box that would fit under the bow. SO I SCRAPED THAT IDEA

    I was sad.

My buddy (the stereo guy) just happened to have an old box that was set up for 2 10 inch subs that each sealed side was .... you guessed it 1 cubic foot.

It is constructed of MDF and had been sealed and then carpeted so we chopped off the side we did not need and I re-sealed that bare side for good measure and then tucked it in the back corner so we lost very little storage space.

We decided to hook up the Kenwood and test it out with the rears and sub and amp ...

It sounded REAL REAL GOOD ... but I guess I will be "that boat" now cause it's MUCH louder than I thought it would be. I guess that's not all bad.

It was late, we were tired, we were hungry it had been a full weekend ... so we decided to call it a night. (This was Sunday)

I am headed over tonight to run front speaker wires, mount the front speakers, run LEDs and get the stereo mounted with cubby in place.

    More to come.

Progress is looking real. How does the sub sound back in the engine bay with the hatch closed? After looking around on here and other forums I've read where a lot of folks said with the hatch closed it really kills the sound. I like the idea of installing a 10" in the passenger kick panel and just using a free air sub so I wont have to worry about having a box.

I KNOW I mentioned this "I now have that boat" It's LOUD and it hits hard.

Yes even with the hatch closed.

That said, if you find a nice free air sub you like, get it and put it in the kick panel. I just think they look cool down there. Plus, like I said, more storage!

What kind of lights did you use and where did you get them?

They are RGB LED strip lights, 100% water proof encased in silicone.
    I used this set here - http://www.amazon.com/16-4Ft-Waterpr...+lights+44+key

There are lots of options out there.

I will go over the install in more detail in the coming days in addition to the light strips I got specialized connectors and wire. Total cost for lighting is in the 50 dollar range.
