hey I'm new to the board and we are looking at purchasing our first boat( been around plenty just never owned as we've always had friends with them!) we are looking at two very different boats one being a mariah. I'm not too familiar with mariah so am kind of reluctant ( and its purple) its a 1994 Mariah Barchetta 192. He says all works well ( has the 4.3 merc) floors solid and such. we're also looking a Chaparral 2130 SS w/ a chevy 350 in it. this boat is immaculate. whats everyones opinions between the two ( most likely going to be biased towards the mariah but try to give equal suggestions. we're looking at the mariah for 3700 and the Chaparral for 7000 so big difference.

What year is the Chaparral? Those are two different boats so i think it will come down to what you need/want a boat for, how well each of these boats were cared for and how much $$ you can afford to spend on your first boat. Chaparral's quality is average but they're decent boats overall. It will consume more fuel with the 5.7 so its running costs will be higher and the parts situation will be similar to an original Mariah in that interior trim parts & glass will be hard to find but most other items will be available somewhere. I would try to get them both on the water and see if they perform well and which one feels most comfortable to you.

the chap is a 94 as well. I just wish the mariah wasn't purple >< hah.
