Default dual battery setup?

howdy all,
I'm looking to add a dual battery setup on my 240z talari. I have the big red selector switch so far, but nothing else. Do I need to use a battery isolator on this? I havent installed anything yet and I want to do this right. I feel safer running two batteries in case one dies while I'm in the middle of the lake, plus I have a 7.4 engine that I'm sure has a heck of a current draw when starting up. Has anyone upgraded to dual batteries that can give me some pointers on doing this the right way?

Thanks,
Paul

As long as you have a few nuts, bolts and screws left over after the job is done, it should work!

Lots of threads on this paul if you do a search.
You don't have to use a isolator but it sure is handy and advisable.

Here is a kit from Blue Seas.

Absolutely worth the money to put in the isolation setup. Much better system than the old 1/2/combine/off switch. Just turn it to on and it takes care of charging both batteries while either running or on a plug in charger. A few years ago, I installed that setup on my shabah and this spring I will be replacing the switch on my Jubilee with the same setup.
