I have a 1997 198 Shabah and the hinge on the forward anchor well is gone. I thought I had this problem solved when I bought a piano hinge to replace it and it will not close so I think it is something of a specialty thing. I no longer have the hinge so I am sort of screwed, just hoping for some thoughts.

I'm not sure what the original hinge looks like. Have you searched ebay? perhaps it used an offset style piano hinge. Could you go with something that exterior mounts? I saw a few good deals on stainless pieces here on ebay:
