Sceptre,

I realize that you've done a motor swap, and I'm still running my factory 502, but I will tell you that at 1/2 throttle (or a touch over) I am running WAY more than 1/2 max RPMs. I guess what I'm saying is that at 4500, I also have a ton of throttle left -- but it doesn't translate into all that much.

Glad to hear you're out on the water. Enjoy.

Re: 275 and 302 mid cabin questions

Well its freezing in NY, I'm tired of the cold !! it's sunny out today and I'm thinking boating in a few months.

So all in all last summer went great. Motor ran solid all summer. I probably put 60 hours on it. I ended up with a quadrajet carb for the time being, thinking about replacing that this spring. Now that I have some hours on it and I know it runs well I'm going to tinker with it a bit. Not sure the carb I'm running has enough flow to really open the motor. I have a friend that likes playing with those carbs so im going to let him have some time with it before I make a final decision to switch to something else. Best performance on calm water was 4600-4700 ish rpms and 53 mph on the gps. 26 inch mirage 3 blade. I have a 28 inch prop im going to try If I can get her pushing the 5k rpm mark im going to throw that on and go from there. And i realize she isnt a rocket by any stretch, but it would be nice to be around the 60 mph mark.

Add lots of money:yes_grin:
7 mph is a lot to shoot for without spending the bucks , but hey , we all want to go faster!:D
Keep us updated on your progress. It will be interesting to see what kind of improvement you can coax from her.

My lake has a speed limit of 40!! I guess any speed above that doesn't do me any good. . . Or does it!?

Re: 275 and 302 mid cabin questions

Carb rebuild plus a few tweaks netted me another 300ish rpm and I moved up to a 28 inch prop. I must have been starvin her last year :( On the down side, I need more octane, 11:1 ratio may have been a poor choice lol May have to retard the timing. But honestly I don't run WOT often so I may just run it for awhile.

I have one of the 2002 24' mid cab bowriders with the volvo big block, inboard-outboard drive system with 2 props counter rotateing, I get just over 400hp and on a smooth day with the wind at my back I can get her up to about 65mph. She is loaded with every option, and yes, very very few of them where made. But I am looking to sell her, she has been kept in a high and dry since the day I bought her, heated and cooled wharehouse all year round. She looks like she is only a year old because we dont use it much and its never been exposed to the elements. I have been asking 35k but wouldent go any less than 30, shes worth it. Let me know if you want pics or if your interested in her, [email protected] / also the cabin is plenty big to sleep 2 people, I am 6' and my gf is 5' and I have plenty of room to sleep. It's a good stable ride and its nice having the best of both worlds a cabin but with an open bow and an open back. Can't beat it!
