275 and 302 mid cabin questions

Hey guys, I currently own a Z250 Cuddy cabin. I recently just found out Mariah made a few mid cabin open bow versions and the idea is really appealing to me. I may spend the night on the lake 2 or 3 times and would like the extra seating of an open bow.

I'm 6'1 and the GF is 5'8. Just how much room is in these things? Is it enough for two people to sleep on over night a few times a year?

The other question would be, Currently mine has a 7.4 liter and it seems to cruise down the lake at a decent speed. I'm guessing the 275 and 302 a roughly 5-10 mph slower respectively. Should I look for something with a 496 or 502? I'd really like to keep the top speed above 50+

If not Mariah, can anyone suggest any other makes models with mid cabin open bow. Looking to keep it between the 20-30k range.

Thanks for any input !!

Re: 275 and 302 mid cabin questions

I've got the z302 and as a 6'4" guy I fit with room to spare as far as sleeping in the mid cabin very comfortably
As far as your 50+ mph question. I have the Volvo 8.2 gsi (502) In mine and my best gps speed has been 61mph but loaded people, gear, drinks, fresh water tanks full, ect. Is 58 on normal days 1' chop, on the water rough 50ish. I run mine WOT most of the time as we run from cove to cove. Love hearing those horses sing and on rough water day teaching her how to fly :)

I have a 302 as well. though wine was originally equipped with the 7.4 MPI (310 hp) it would only do 43 on the best day. Im in the middle of a motor upgrade. +.030, 10.2:1, hp500 cam, Magnum intake system. by all accounts it should be around 425-450 hp, with 750 more RPMs to rev limit. Ive already stepped up from 24-26p props, next are 28p's. Im shooting for anything above 50 mph.

Im 6'0" and there is plenty of room to sleep below with the filler cushions in place. My son and I do it each year.

Sceptre,

I'm on this forum because I'm going to get one of those two boats! I love the layout, keep abreast of every one for sale in the country.

There are some other MCOB (mid-cabin open bow) type boats out there, but most are significantly more:

Ebbtide 2600 or 2700 Cuddy Bowrider - Typically $40-70k ('05 - '06 range). There is one on boat trader right now for $35k (Used 2005 Ebbtide 2600, Stafford, Va - 22554 - BoatTrader.com).

Caravelle Boats 240 Mid Cabin Bowrider ("99-01?) - Didn't look like many were made, can't find them for sale very often. (https://my.boatus.com/forum/forum_po...ID=55837&PN=44)

Monterey 298 - http://www.boattest.com/boats/boat_video.aspx?ID=200. There is one for sale now for $45k: 2003 Monterey 298 Super Sport Bow Rider for Sale - iboats.com 1269653

Sunsation 288

Envision 29' - 29' Envision COMBO DLX MID CABIN BOW RIDER Power Boat in , - Boat Gallery

Campion Allante 705i - Newer, I believe this is a Canadian company.
One for sale now for $60k - 2008 Campion Allante 705i Bowrider Power Boat For Sale - www.yachtworld.com

Nordic Heat Open Bow - 2007 Nordic 28 Heat Open Bow Mid Cabin powerboat for sale in Arizona

There is one other that I looked at, it is an early to mid-90's Wellcraft, the Eclipse 232. It has a small cuddy on the side, there have been a few for sale near me (Minneapolis area), and were inexpensive. After looking at a couple, they are not in very good shape and the more I read about the issues with these Wellcrafts, I decided to stay away. They were in the $6-8000 range for a '93, '96, etc.

There are some other California boats (like the Ebbtide) but they are not the type of boat I was looking for, and made in such small numbers I wasn't interested.

Now, there is one other Mariah, the Z245STC (some pics in the gallery here). I can't find any of those for sale, must have been very limited quantity, maybe only 2001? I'd be interested in that boat. In Red.

Re: 275 and 302 mid cabin questions

Wow thanks for all the info guys.

That's good to hear about the mid cabin size on the 302's. I recently sold a 32ft scarab and after running the 25ft mariah last summer I'm really missing the smooth ride of the scarab. I'm really leaning towards a 302. The one on ebay in Texas is super nice, but a starting bid of 33.5k seems a bit high to me. It is a clean boat though...

And it sounds like the 502 is where i wanted to be as far as speed. I'm guessing cruise speed is 2800 rpm's @ about 38-40 mph?

Formula is now on the bandwagon too for MCOB. Seems that Mariah was well ahead of the game with the 275 and 302!

Re: 275 and 302 mid cabin questions

There was a post on here a few days ago about Challenger boats, I think Oregon posted the link. They make their version of the 302 off of the original Mariah form.

Mariah also has a 24' version of the mid cabin. I think they are 2002 model year. I want to say there was a post on MOC about them and there were only like 16 made... I might be way off in that number but they came with the big block. Just a cool tid bit I guess.
